Holistic Child Development India (HCDI) is a pioneering humanitarian non-profit and
ecumenical organization in which the Mar Thoma Syrian Church has the lead role. HCDI
has over 30 years of experience transforming the lives of children and empowering
marginalized communities across India. Established in 1994 under the Societies
Registration Act XXI of 1860, HCDI is deeply committed to placing children at the center
of all its initiatives and fostering sustainable development in rural and tribal areas.
HCDI is registered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) to receive CSR
contributions and have been granted Income Tax exemptions under Sections 12AA and

Program Implementation & Monitoring
HCDI works through a decentralized model, ensuring effective implementation and
monitoring across its regional child development units—CARD, STARD, and
NDO operating in various states of India.
We play a central role in:
Capacity Building: Offering technical guidance and regular training for local staff and stakeholders.
Monitoring & Evaluation: Utilizing robust systems, including social audits and community feedback tools, to ensure transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Direct Community Engagement
In addition to supporting regional units, HCDI directly implements various development
programs, especially those focusing on children and community empowerment. This
hands-on approach allows us to:
Pilot and refine innovative, child-focused models
Scale up successful practices across diverse settings
Deliver impactful, community-driven solutions rooted in local realities
