Kripa Samithy – Light to Life Project, Ranni Nilackal Diocese
(Kattachira, Thavalappara & Kurumbanmoozhy Units)
The Kripa Samithy Light to Life Project continues to nurture the holistic growth of children through its three active units—Kattachira, Thavalappara, and Kurumbanmoozhy. Each unit has conducted impactful programs focusing on education, health, personality development, cultural enrichment, and community involvement.
1. Moria Light to Life – Kattachira
The Kattachira unit of the Moria Light to Life project carried out several impactful programs for children and parents over the past three months. School materials were distributed to all project children, and initiatives such as the Reading Corner Programme and Leadership Training encouraged literacy, creativity, and teamwork. Regular karate classes were held to build discipline and self-confidence, while an exhibition gave children a platform to showcase their talents and collections. The unit also celebrated Independence Day with a rally and cultural activities, and organized a vibrant Onam Celebration with the participation of nearly 350 parents and children. Significantly, two new units were started at Chittar and Anjekkar, expanding the project’s reach to more families. These activities have strengthened education, leadership, cultural appreciation, and community spirit among the children.

The Kurumbanmoozhy unit of the Light to Life project focused on holistic development through educational, social, and value-based programs. Children attended an awareness class on the harmful effects of tobacco in connection with World No Tobacco Day, and sessions on leadership, personality development, and good behavior helped them build confidence, responsibility, and positive habits. Weekly reading practice classes were also introduced to strengthen language and study skills. As part of community outreach, the unit celebrated Senior Citizens Day on 21st August with interactive programs honoring the elderly. These initiatives nurtured academic growth, health awareness, social responsibility, and intergenerational bonding among the children.

3. Light to Life Project – Thavalappara
The Thavalappara unit of the Light to Life project supports the education of 100 children from the Konni–Thavalappara area. Recently, Onam celebrations were organized with cultural programs and a festive meal for students and parents, alongside a parents’ meeting to review children’s studies and project activities. To improve learning outcomes, two new tuition centers were opened with a special focus on challenging subjects. The unit also organized a free medical camp at the Children’s Home, offering eye check-ups and diagnosis for lifestyle diseases to both children and local residents. These initiatives are strengthening education, health awareness, and community involvement among the children and families in the region.
