The CARD – Light to Life Project, Sapera, under Dharma Jyoti Vidya Peeth with CARD support, serves over 150 children from the marginalized Sapera (snake charmer) community and nearby villages of Arua and Sahapura in Faridabad District, Haryana. With the support of a dedicated team including DJVP Family, students, and staff, the project focuses on education, health, cultural development, and community empowerment. In 2024–25, activities included academic support, distribution of school materials, literacy classes, house visits, awareness drives, medical camps, and national day celebrations. Special initiatives like skill-based competitions and exposure visits encouraged creativity and confidence, while community engagement strengthened trust and participation.
A milestone achievement was the establishment of a Child Parliament, enabling children to take leadership roles, organize street plays in multiple areas, and advocate for education and social awareness. The project has significantly improved school readiness, retention, and community involvement, while empowering children to voice concerns and take responsibility. Despite challenges such as inadequate washroom facilities and limited infrastructure, the project continues to transform lives through its integrated approach of education, health, leadership training, and cultural engagement. Moving forward, it envisions stronger infrastructure, expanded child leadership platforms, and sustained community impact through close partnerships with CARD and DJVP.
